builds a culture where learning is seen as a lifelong process and where
excellence is promoted in academic, creative, social, citizenship and
sporting pursuits.
The College is set in
10 hectares of landscaped grounds in the tourist township of Bright,
which is situated in the picturesque Ovens Valley, 310km north east of
Melbourne. The nearest major city, Wangaratta, is 80 km to the west and
Albury-Wodonga 110km to the north. Magnificent landscapes include
Victoria's highest peak (Mt Bogong), the broad undulating high plains, the
spectacular
rock formations of nearby Mt Buffalo and fertile river valleys.
With clean air and
fewer wet and overcast days than Melbourne or Sydney, the area
experiences four distinct and predictable seasons each year. Snow
covers the high ground during winter. Tourism is one of the major
industries in the area known for its natural beauty. Popular activities
for visitors including sightseeing, eating out, shopping, bushwalking,
visiting friends and relations, visiting craft or art galleries and
snow skiing. Other industries are wine production, manufacturing and
agriculture.
Set against
this
backdrop, Bright P-12 College fosters self esteem and values
individuals by providing an environment where they can feel safe and
supported in their endeavours.
The
College's
population comprises students enrolled from the township of Bright and
the neighbouring towns of Porepunkah, Harrietville and Wandiligong. The
